Windows 10 End of Life - Is Your Business Prepared?
Are You Prepared For The Upcoming Windows 10 End of Life On Oct 14, 2025?
Microsoft will officially end support for their popular Windows 10 operating system (both home and business editions) on Oct 14, 2025. Are you prepared for how this will affect your business?
What does this mean for your business?
Your existing Windows 10 computer will continue to operate; however, you will be putting your business at risk the longer you use an unsupported operating system after Oct 14, 2025. For example:
* Over time, your Windows 10 operating system will become less and less secure as it falls further and further behind on security updates.
* Few to no bug fixes will be released for Windows 10 after End of Life.
* Microsoft (and some 3rd party software vendors) will no longer provide technical support on a machine running Windows 10.
* New equipment such as scanners, printers, copiers, etc. may not include the necessary software (or device drivers) to run on Windows 10.
How can you prepare your business?
The time to prepare is NOW, while there is time to budget and plan for the upcoming Oct 14, 2025 Windows 10 End of Life date.
* Ask your I. T. person to check each of your Windows 10 computers to see which pass the Microsoft test for upgrade to Windows 11.
* Ask your I.T. person to identify which computers will need to be replaced by new computers.
* Contact your software vendors and ask if they plan to continue supporting their proprietary software on Windows 10 past the Oct 14, 2025 End of Life date.
* Using the information provided to you by your I.T. person, create a budget that allows you to migrate your office computers and laptops to Windows 11 between now and Oct 2025.
Note: Microsoft lifted some of their previous restrictions regarding which computers can be upgraded to Windows 11. Originally, Microsoft required the computer or laptop to use modern TPM security and newer CPUs. This created an uproar within the user community. Microsoft finally responded by providing a Windows 11 upgrade procedure for computers that technically do not meet their initial hardware requirements.
